Join us on our delightful Street Food Tour as we take you to explore all our favorite places in Antigua. We will get to know the culture through its gastronomy by tasting food creations influenced over thousand years as proof of the richness of its roots. We will be exploring a vibrant market, sabor exotic seasonal fruits and sate your craving with Guatemalan sweets. Along the way, you will also learn about Antigua’s history, enjoy the World Heritage colorful colonial town, 16th-century ruins and the surrounding volcanoes.
Our journey begins at Casa Mandarina, a cozy and welcoming starting point. From there, we’ll dive into the heart of Antigua’s vibrant food culture. The Itinerary focuses on providing a balance between traditional and modern influences. As we move through the colonial city streets of Antigua, we will visit the most authentic and traditional food locations, from trustable friends that had shared their heritage over generations, caring with love to see people coming back for more. We will enjoy a variety of salty and sweets treats as we explore multiple spots around the city.

Corn or Maize ProductsThe domestication of corn was done 8,000 years ago, it changed our history and the basis of our gastronomy, we definitely have to Savor the products made with the most relevant ingredient of all in the Mayan culture, we can choose between the treasures made with Mayan gold like Tamalitos or Chuchitos, Dobladas or Tamales. Vegetarian and vegan options are available. |

Traditional Dishes at ComedoresWe will walk to the Comedores (food area) inside the market, where we could taste traditional dishes such as Pepián, Jocón, Revolcado or Pulique, which are thick and rich sauces or soups even compare to stew texture, they are typically served with avocado and handmade tortillas. We will also explain the history and preparation process behind these delicious and culturally significant meals. |

Traditional SweetsWe will visit a candy stand and sample traditional Guatemalan sweets. You Will taste Tamarindo balls with sugar, Guava sweets, or Canillitas de Leche. These sweet treats have a rich history influenced by Spanish traditions as they introduced sugar cane to the region. |
Stop 7 |
Street Food at the PlazasWe will visit several plazas with fantastic street food markets. La Merced is one of the most popular in Antigua, located just outside Iglesia de la Merced, where you can enjoy some of the best street food surrounded by locals. Here we will sample Hot Chocolate (ancient Mayans worshipped the cacao tree) or traditional Atol (atol is a hot drink made of corn or seeds) accompanied with Rellenitos (plantain flour with sweet beans sauce inside and fried). We will also taste Tostadas with guacamole or beans with tomato sauce. |

Cheers!Our last stop but not the least will be, depending on your preference we will cheers with eather 4Oz of artisanal beer at the Arch Street or a Chocolate at the cacao museum. In any of these scenaries we will have the perfect chance to share our suggestions for pubs, restaurants or any other interest you may have for the rest of your trip. |
