Explore the vibrant streets of Antigua, indulge in a local street food tour, and discover the Flower Festival’s breathtaking displays. Then, venture to the surrounding villages on a colorful Chicken Bus, meeting artisans and learning about traditional crafts. In the highlands, enjoy a scenic boat ride across Lake Atitlán, visit Maya villages, and experience the region’s deep cultural roots

Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome Guatemala!

Meet & Greet to your arrival at Guatemala City International Airport where our representative will welcome you and transfer you to the charming colonial city of Antigua where we can have our welcome dinner to have a brief about our next wonderful days. Your private transport will take you on a scenic 1.5-hour journey (please note, travel time may vary depending on flight arrival and traffic conditions). Settle into your hotel in Antigua, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and relax after your journey.

Day 2

Flower's Festival & Enchanting Antigua

Start your day with a Street Food Tour at 9:00 AM, exploring Antigua’s vibrant markets and tasting local flavors, from exotic fruits to traditional sweets. At 2:00 PM, take a Walking Tour around Antigua, where you'll discover stunning sites like the San Francisco Church, La Merced Church, and the Main Square, all while soaking in the beauty of the Flower Festival around you. The rest of the day is devoted to the Festival, where Antigua’s streets, churches, and monuments are adorned with stunning floral displays. Immerse yourself in the colorful atmosphere, enjoying live music, art exhibitions, and flower-themed activities.

Day 3

Villages Around Antigua on Mini Chicken Bus

Embark on a cultural adventure aboard the famous Chicken Bus, Guatemala’s vibrant and stunning form of transportation. Visit nearby villages, where you’ll meet local artisans, taste traditional flavors, and experience rural life. Begin in San Juan del Obispo, home to five generations of chocolatiers, and learn about Guatemala’s beloved chocolate-making traditions. Then, head to San Pedro Las Huertas, a peaceful village known for its farming community, and take in breathtaking views of the Fuego and Agua volcanoes. Next, explore Ciudad Vieja, the first Spanish capital of the Americas, before visiting San Miguel Dueñas Valhalla Macadamia Farm, where you’ll discover how macadamia trees support indigenous communities. This day will leave you with a deeper connection to Guatemala’s rural roots and the sustainability efforts of local communities.

Day 4

Enchanting Lake Atitlán!

We will pick you up at your hotel and ride a boat for the visit around the Lake Atitlán, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, surrounded by three prominent volcanoes. Visit hidden gems and vibrant lakeside villages, starting with San Juan La Laguna, known for its colorful textiles and authentic Mayan culture. Next, explore Santiago Atitlán, a hub of syncretism where Catholic and Mayan traditions blend seamlessly. Visit the Cojolya Weaving Center, founded by the Mayan Women Weavers of Cojolya, to learn about ancient weaving techniques. Optional (USD $10.00 extra): Take a visit to Santa Catarina Palopó, known for its relaxing hot springs, where you can unwind in the mineral-rich waters.

Day 5

Departure Transfer

The journey to the airport takes approximately 3.5 hours, so make sure to plan for at least 2 hours at the airport before your flight. The most difficult moment has arrived for the Columbus Guatemala Travel family, we have to say... SEE YOU SOON! We will always wait for you with open arms, probably our next destination could be Colombia, Belize, Argentina or Costa Rica.
