Tour Overview

Being in the Ring of Fire, with more than 37 volcanoes, Guatemala has an amazing geography. Three of its impressive volcanoes are currently active. Pacaya is one of the popular active volcanoes which offers the most unforgettable hiking experiences. The activity is unique and safe. Due to its location at 8,000 feet above sea level, its an ideal spot for travelers who wants an easy ascent and epic views (you will see three other volcanoes fron the top) along with making some beautiful memories.

Once we reach atop, we will roast marshmallow on the hot pockets of the lava rock. We will also arrange a picnic accompanied with mayan hot chocolate or traditional cusha (fermented drink made out of fruits and sugarcane) along with delicious tortilla and cheese cooked for you in the heat of this fabulous volcano. Accompany your tortilla and cheese with chicken or pork slices, seasonal fruits, tomato sauce, avocado, beans, green onions and lime like a real Chapín (vegan option available).

Stop 1	San Vicente Pacaya It will take us 1.5 hours by car to reach the Visitor Center in San Vicente Pacaya, we will start hiking at approximately 1900 meters above the sea or 6300 feet, it will be a bit steep our way to the top but we will have multiple places to relax , breathe and enjoy while we ascend, it will definitely be worth it when we get to the closest point of the crater. Time to ascend may vary between 1.5-2.5hrs, we will get to top at our own pace, no rush it's not a race!
Stop 2	Atop Pacaya Volcano We will have our time to absorb the best energy out of an active volcano, right there we will be reminded us how alive is our mother nature and how majestic it is. We will spend about an hour at the top enjoying the views and the picnic.
