Feel Guatemala in every step you take as the streets of Antigua Guatemala welcome you in the most glamorous days, filled with bright sawdust carpets designs of multiple colors that transform streets into a work of art adding all kind of elements like flowers, vegetables, fruits, bread, even sometimes families add their special or unique touch with replicas of processions in styrofoam or wood. This World Heritage city architecture, history and gastronomy will add the ramarkable value to your travel memories, continuing our journey to Lake Atitlán sorruounded by indigenous villages where, lakeside views and handcraft master pieces will blow your mind.

Coming to the Land of Eternal Spring during Holy Week will give you the perfect opportunity to witness our passioned and warm people, taste our traditions and capture nature in extraordinary pictures to share with all your loved ones!

 


Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome to Guatemala! Welcome Dinner

Guatemala comes from the Nahuatl word Quactemalan, meaning Land of Trees or Place of Many Trees. Our representative will be waiting for you outside the airport. We will coordinate our arrival time based on the group's earliest arrival time. If the wait is longer than an hour, we will have two available pick up times for your arrival transportation. You will be driving around 1.5 hours to Antigua Guatemala.
We will meet with the group at evening-night time to enjoy a delicious local dinner as well as a beautiful brief with your local friend and general tour guide.

Day 2, Leisure Morning!

Optional Giant Hand at Hobbitenango or Pacaya Volcano. Evening Holy Walk and Street Food Tour

We've planned a relaxing day for you to feel comfortable and explore a bit on your own combined with an evening/night experience. We have a variety of activities to suit your interest, including yoga classes, honey pairings, coffee cupping, clay workshop, and more. Maundy Thursday is the most expected day, families come together to create these amazing carpets all night, in order to be oferings for Good Friday processions. The city's neighborhoods ellaborate very creative and unique carpets, competing for recognition. We begin with a sacred rum tasting, giving us the energy to explore our beautiful colonial city while enjoying seasonal street food tour.

Day 3

Sawdust Carpet Workshop & Walk Antigua Like a Local

Your friend and local tour guide will welcome you around 09:00 a.m., and as you walk, the incense in the air symbolizes prayers rising to heaven and purifying the atmosphere. This distinctive aroma heralds the arrival of a procession. Trumpets, drums, bass drums, bugles announce the arrival of the enormous float, which displays meticulously carved structures and sculptures, prepared with great dedication. Your tour guide will also share information about our history, culture, and architectural highlights, stop for a coffee and layback to share all those stories we've lived through the years.
We will participate in the creation of a sawdust carpet, be a real local with our hands-on experience.

Evening/Night Worskhop options: Cocktail or Mocktail, Jade Carving, Paiting with Coffee & Wine, Weaving or Cooking.

Day 4

Villages Around Lake by boat

Picking up at 07:00am we will drive to Lake Atitlán, once we get to Panajachel we will switch to a boat in order to Visit the Mayan villages around called San Juan la Laguna and Santiago Atitlán. This beautiful and unique streets will be the perfect scenary for unforgettable moments. Depending on our path, we might stay longer in San Juan la Laguna, but be prepared to meet local friends who have maintained a legacy of natural dyeing, threading, and weaving for generations.
We will be back to Antigua Guatemala around 07:00pm, there will be technical stops on the way to Lake Atitlán and back.

Day 5

Departure, Thank You!

Thank you for enjoying a week filled with the splendor of this cultural tradition. Rest and prepare to return to the airport with the best memories of Guatemala. We will have two departure times available to accommodate your departure flights.
